8.KunstZwergFestival 2011

Kunstzwerg-Festival

Der renommierte englische WIRE schrieb: „Datashock collective sounds like a free-folk informed update on Amon Düül II, with electric guitar, drums and fiddle working alongside effect pedals and electronics.“

Flamingo Creatures

Ungefragt taufte man ihn Karl Rudi Domidian.

Post Abortion Stress

PAS started in 1995 out of Brooklyn, NY, USA, driven by the creative talents of Robert L. Pepper working in the mediums of sound and video. Since then PAS has evolved into a collective with many different instrumentations and line ups. Permanent members include Amber Brien, Job “Vomit” Worthley, Michael Durek, and Will Seesar. Guests and occasional collaborators include, ZEV!, Hati, Steve Beresford, Thomthom Geigenschrey, Matt Chilton (Vultures), Anthony Donovan (Vultures), Damien Olsen, Philippe Petit, Robert Pascale, and many others. PAS have released 6 full length cd’s and have been on several compilations throughout the years. PAS have performed in various countries including the United States, Germany (including Fausts Avant Garde Festival 2009, 2010), the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Macedonia, and Poland, just to name a few. Sound and video installations have also included Chile and the United States (including the 18th Olympia Experimental Festival in Washinton). PAS also curates events in New York such as Experi-MENTAL nights and the Experi-MENTAL Festival once a year at Goodbye Blue Monday. PAS is a group out to create musical collages through the form of abstract sound. Their name refers metaphorically to those who have been aborted by society, because their point of view doesn’t fit in the constraints of “normal” society. The short name refers to the negative in French, metaphorically negating everything that is established to start from a new beginning. The viewpoint fuels our creativity to create our own world of beauty. Since our inception the band has been interested in making music from the fringes of perception, creating soundscapes that aren’t defined by any particular conventions or viewpoints. The aesthetic underpinnings are defined by the notion that music can be whatever the ear perceives. It’s a conception fueled by the love of life and art. It’s a desire for honest artistic self-expression. The compositions themselves are more akin to soundscapes than “songs” in the traditional sense. There are no clearly defined melodies, no structural landmarks that give you any sense of traditional anchor. This is not music making with any sense of or desire for commercial viability, but sonic sculptures in the mode of pure art.

Sk Orchestra

Meng-Hsuan Wu

The journey in the Realm of the Unspeakable

The journey in the Realm of the Unspeakable is a performance project combining sculpture and the artist’s appearance. The artist, Meng-Hsuan Wu, will perform as a flower during “2011 Art and Music Festival” in Zweibrücken, Germany. The petals of the flower will be installed surrounding the artist’s neck and constantly move up and down at a very slow speed which you cannot rarely see the motion. The motion of the petals will create the image of a flower’s life cycle between bloom and close. The artist’s head will be totally hide or revealed by the petals between their cyclic motions. During the performance, the artist will control to stop the movement when viewers stay around this performance. The movement will be continued by the performer after people leave. The viewers will need to turn back to the flower performance a while after their departure to see the more noticeable change of the flower’s gesture. The material used for inner side of the petal is reflexible. Therefore, the open flower shows and reflects the alteration of the environment where it is located. The change of the environment including time, sites, weather, and people, etc affects the appearance of the flower.

The idea of the performance in consideration of „Nature & Garden”

Nature is the realm of the unspeakable which speaks its own language. A garden is a place where growth is found .It has it own source of change within the unspeakable realm of nature. The more numerous it’s sources of change-the more vigorous its liveliness and the more it is unpredictable. People come to a garden prepared for change, and therefore prepared to change. Growth promotes growth while changes promote change. In my performance, the flower’s constant movement implies the seasons of the nature and the cycle of the garden. The change of the environment within the nature will bring a gardening journey to the flower which is also an extension of me, the performer. To travel is to grow. This performance is intended to fulfill my passion of travel and the exploration about of my growth within a constant change.

Born in Taipei, Taiwan,1981, I began my art exploration and received my Master of Fine Arts in Taiwan. With my curiosity about how people in different places do and look at art, I left home and enrolled SUNY New Paltz in New York, U.S.A for my MFA from 2006-2008. I started my new art adventures in a particular condition of being in between a traveler and a resident. “Where, When, and why am I here?” is the core of my art and reflects my interest about life and people. Being in between a traveler and a resident, I am like a river, a container of myself and also a container of all the environments surrounding me. The flow makes me affect the places where I am passing by and reflecting them vise versa.
